A 425 Series segmented radius window at the curved stairway entrance—one of the most complex and visually stunning elements of the design.
Overview
Perched on Flathead Lake, Myers Boat House was envisioned as a space where the homeowner could effortlessly transition from a day on the water to a beautifully designed retreat. More than just a storage space for boats, this architectural masterpiece offers expansive views, cutting-edge engineering, and a seamless connection to the landscape.
Achieving that vision required the expertise of Montana Sash & Door, who worked alongside Keith Beck Architecture to ensure the design met both aesthetic and performance standards. From maximizing daylight openings to meeting stringent wind load requirements, every element was carefully considered to bring this extraordinary project to life.
Engineering Meets Artistry
At the heart of the design is the segmented radius window, a feat of precision and craftsmanship. This custom 425 Series curtain wall curves along the grand stairway, creating a striking focal point while flooding the interior with natural light.
Beyond aesthetics, the technical complexity of this feature was immense. Built on a radius wall with a sloped sill, it required custom-engineered connection brackets and specialized components designed in collaboration with Awake Windows & Doors. The result? A structure that blends cutting-edge innovation with timeless elegance.
Maximizing Views & Light
To fully embrace the stunning lake and mountain views, every window and door in the boathouse was chosen for its minimal framing and expansive glass openings. The goal was to create unobstructed sightlines while ensuring durability in a high-exposure waterfront environment.
We collaborated with Montana Sash & Door to:
- Incorporate a 425 Series curtain wall, enhancing visibility with sleek, low-profile framing.
- Install a 905 Series multi-slide door on the north side, opening the space to its natural surroundings.
- Use Awake Series casements and awnings, providing ventilation without sacrificing design.
Engineer custom connection brackets, ensuring stability despite wind load and environmental factors.
A Vision Brought to Life
“The homeowner is so pleased with the outcome that they are now considering Awake Windows & Doors for the main house.”
For Montana Sash & Door, this project was more than just an installation—it was an opportunity to push the boundaries of engineering and design. From concept to completion, the collaboration between the architect, builder, and Awake team ensured a flawless execution.
What stood out most about this project:
- The meticulous craftsmanship required to execute the curved/sloped stairway window.
- The seamless integration of contemporary design into a rugged, natural setting.
The partnership-driven approach, where technical expertise and creative vision worked hand in hand.
