Dreamed of for years and brought to life through an elite collaboration of design partners, Canyon Vista embodies the ultimate expression of indoor-outdoor living. With over 60% of its exterior composed of glass and panoramic views spanning nearly 280 degrees of Sedona’s red rocks, the home dissolves boundaries, celebrating connection, performance, and place in every direction.

Overview
Designed as both a personal residence and an immersive retreat space, Canyon Vista was built for gathering, inspiration, and flow. Homeowner Roland Cochran envisioned a place that could comfortably host up to fifteen guests for coaching intensives and retreats, yet still felt grounded in the intimacy of everyday life.
Set against Sedona’s expansive red rock backdrop, the design intentionally celebrates what surrounds it. Floor-to-ceiling glazing captures endless mountain views, while the remaining walls remain minimal and understated. The result is a home that feels alive, connected, and entirely in rhythm with its environment.
“I hate being inside,” Roland says with a laugh. “This was my way of creating a home that lets me live outdoors, even when I’m technically in.”
From morning hikes to fireside evenings, the connection to Sedona’s natural beauty is constant and intentional.
The Art of Indoor-Outdoor Living
The heart of Canyon Vista lies in its ability to disappear.
- Twelve motorized glass door systems open with the touch of a button, revealing sweeping desert views.
- Narrow sightlines and hidden tracks allow every threshold to dissolve into the landscape.
- Designed for Sedona’s mild climate, the doors remain open nearly eight months of the year.
- Air, light, and conversation flow freely between indoors and out.
A Transparent Welcome
At the entry, an all-glass, 8-foot-wide pivot door sets the tone for what’s inside: expansive, luminous, and unexpected simplicity. Designed as both sculpture and function, the pivot hints that the best views are yet to come. When open, it invites guests directly into the home’s main gathering space, where the views unfold in every direction.
A Vision Realized, A Home Without Walls
For Roland, Canyon Vista isn’t just a home—it’s the culmination of a vision years in the making. Built to erase the divide between indoors and out, it captures his love for nature, design, and connection in one seamless environment. “I always wanted a home where you’re not really inside,” he says—and here, that vision became real.
That philosophy shaped every detail. From the twelve motorized panels that vanish into hidden tracks to the all-glass pivot door that opens with ease, every Awake system was chosen to make the boundaries between indoors and out feel irrelevant. “Sixty percent of the house is glass,” he says. “Over half of it is see-through. When that main door opens, it’s the showpiece. Everyone gathers there—it’s where the view is, where the house comes alive.”
Working with Awake reinforced what Roland believes about building well:
“Don’t cut corners. Hire a five-star team that communicates. Building should be exciting—not stressful. Awake made that possible. I was traveling around the world while the house was being built, and they handled everything. It was a breeze.”
Now, whether hosting a retreat or simply watching the sun rise over Sedona’s red rocks, Canyon Vista reflects the life Roland envisioned—rooted in connection, nature, and freedom.
“Most people dread building,” he says. “For me, it was a dream. And every time I open those doors, it still feels that way.”
