Privacy at the Touch of a Button: Cardinal CLiC™ Glass Now Available
Awake Window & Door Co. is expanding its glass options with the availability of Cardinal CLiC™ switchable glass on select Awake window and door systems, giving architects, designers, builders, and homeowners a new way to introduce privacy without sacrificing the clean architectural aesthetic of expansive glass.
Unlike traditional shades, blinds, or other applied privacy solutions, CLiC uses liquid crystal technology integrated into the glass assembly. With power applied, the glass can transition between transparent and private states — allowing an opening to remain visually clean while providing privacy when needed. Cardinal’s system arrives with wiring already terminated and ready for installation.
Designed for Modern Architecture
CLiC gives designers another tool for spaces where both natural light and privacy are priorities — especially compelling for bedrooms, bathrooms, offices, and entry conditions where conventional window coverings may interrupt the architecture or obscure the view.
The technology is available in sizes up to 50 square feet, with maximum dimensions of 78 inches wide by 129 inches long, providing flexibility for substantial glazed openings.
Smart Home Ready
CLiC integrates with Control4 and other automation platforms via relay or GPIO controls — allowing privacy glass to become part of a broader lighting, shading, or smart-home strategy.
A Complete, Installation-Ready Solution
One of the advantages of the CLiC system is that Cardinal supplies the glass with the electrical connections already completed. Rather than requiring installers to cut film, solder connections, or laminate components in the field, the glass arrives prepared for installation.
Controllers can be located remotely — up to 333 feet from the glass — making it possible to position electrical components in a structured wiring or mechanical room and coordinate the system with the project’s AV or automation provider.
Available on Select Awake Systems
Cardinal CLiC is now available as an option on eligible Awake Window & Door systems, giving customers another way to customize their openings around the specific needs of a project.
Please note: CLiC is not currently available on Awake Multi-Slide Door or Patio Door systems.
Because electrical planning is an important part of a CLiC installation, we recommend involving the project’s electrical or AV/automation integrator early in the design process. Cardinal specifically recommends coordinating wiring, independent glass zones, controller locations, and switch locations during project planning.

The addition of CLiC switchable glass expands those possibilities by bringing privacy and technology directly into the glazing itself — without adding another visual layer to the opening.
