Awake in the News: Celebrating Second-Chance Coverage

We’re humbled and grateful that Awake Window & Door Co.’s mission-driven work is being recognized across the media. In recent weeks, several outlets have shared our story of innovating in the window-and-door industry while giving justice-involved individuals a chance to rebuild their lives. This coverage helps raise awareness of our social mission and we thank everyone who has helped tell our story.
Industry Spotlight
Industry publications have highlighted Awake’s approach. Window + Door Magazine (Aug. 20, 2025) ran a feature titled “Awake Window & Door Co. Gives Previously Incarcerated Individuals a Second Chance.” That article describes Awake as “rooted in a social mission,” noting that we “hire a growing number of individuals who have been previously incarcerated, partnering with nonprofits to offer second-chance careers”windowanddoor.com. Similarly, Builder Magazine (Aug. 15, 2025) published “Windows to a Second Chance,” reporting that “more than half of [Awake’s] 100-plus employees are formerly incarcerated individuals,” a hiring mission that has fueled rapid growth, over $30 million in annual sales, and a workplace culture “defined by gratitude, mentorship, and purpose”builderonline.com. These industry stories show how our second-chance model is not only changing lives but also strengthening our business and community.
Community & Local News
At home in Arizona, local news outlets have also told the Awake story. ABC15’s Uplifting Arizona segment “From Prison to Purpose” (Aug. 2025) went into our Gilbert warehouse and found that Awake “has found a way to turn stigma into strength” by hiring people “ready for a fresh start.” Reporter Cameron Polom noted that “more than half of [our] workforce has done time, yet together they’ve helped this mission-driven manufacturer thrive”abc15.com. Regional newspapers joined in: the East Valley Tribune (Mesa Tribune) and the Gilbert Sun News ran a story headlined “Gilbert firm gives ex-inmates a second chance,” describing how our team members are rebuilding their lives (Gilbert firm gives ex-inmates a second chance | News | gilbertsunnews.com). Yahoo! News and the NewsBreak platform also picked up this story online, giving our mission an even wider audience. We’re honored that local journalists are helping spread the word about the power of fair-chance hiring.
Expanding Our Reach
Beyond Arizona, Awake’s mission is resonating nationally. We’re honored that Seattle’s KOMO-TV (ABC) plan to feature Awake in their news segments, further broadening awareness of our work. Seeing media in different regions take interest in our second-chance story reminds us that opportunity is a message that matters everywhere.
