Introducing Awake’s Zero Bi-part: Revolutionizing the World of Architectural Reveals

August 12, 2024

When we launched the 905 Series Multi-Slide Door system, we were committed to offering our customers almost limitless options and custom capabilities. Different sills, different interlock widths, different lockstiles – all of these options are focused on offering our customers unique options that best fit their own unique design needs.

Building upon the prior interlocker design, the new Zero Bi-part can now achieve narrowness as remarkable as 3/4 of an inch, providing architects and designers unparalleled flexibility in their creations.

Our latest innovation in that regard is our new, Zero-Bi-part detail. This new bi-part detail is designed to maximize our promise to our customers of “less us, more view.” Here is a rundown of how that feature will work.

Traditionally, when multi-slides bi-part, the lockstile of the two panels meet at the middle, and customers have to sacrifice view to accommodate the two panels meeting and bi-parting on the same track (leading competitors often have a bi-part sightline penalty of almost 9”). Awake’s Standard Bi-Part has a minimal sightline of only 3”, but the new Zero Bi-Part has available sightlines of ¾” or 1-3/8”.

The innovative new bi-part condition allows panels to meet and bi-part on a separate track, which means where the panels meet together and lock, the sightline can now match the adjacent vertical interlocks on the rest of the door. The custom developed shoot bolt locking hardware is clean, strong, and fits within the ultra-narrow bi-part extrusions.

In essence, the upgraded 905 Zero Bi-Part condition combines innovation and practicality, catering to the evolving needs of the architectural landscape. These enhancements are passed to set a new standard in the industry, providing architects and designers with the tools they need to bring their visions to life with unparalleled precision and quality.

“Our customers greatly value view maximization, and we know that some rooms and configurations require bi-part functionality so they can open from the middle. These new ¾ and 1-3/8” zero bi-parts are an incredible new option that allow functionality to meet our customer promise of view maximization”, says Dustin Wright, VP of Design and Engineering.

The new zero bi-part options are available starting in 2024 from Awake.
