West Coast Insulating Glass Passes Through Price Increase in the 3-5% Range
West Coast Insulating Glass, one of Awake Window & Door Co.’s primary suppliers of high-quality insulating glass, recently received notice from their primary suppliers (including Guardian, Vitro, etc.) of an incoming price increase due to increased cost of raw materials, operating cost, labor expenses, logistics, and utility costs.
As a result, West Coast has announced a price increase that will go into effect for all orders placed after October 2024. We estimate that the new costs from West Coast will result in Awake’s orders utilizing West Coast IG units incurring a price increase somewhere between 3-5% depending on product mix and options chosen.
The price increase will impact all available glass options from West Coast, including Guardian, Vitro, and Cardinal glass. These new costs from West Coast Insulating Glass will be uploaded and adjusted in our V6 quoting software by the end of September 2024 so it can be included in your pricing for Awake quotes going forward.
If you want to protect your original price in our V6 software, it is important to understand that you must officially “issue” your quote in the system to secure your pricing. Hitting the “issue” button will help lock in a price for you without the price increase included. Quotes that have not been issued will automatically update to the new pricing when our system receives the update in late September. This doesn’t guarantee this will be your price in perpetuity, but it does help protect it at the lower cost if you expect to order soon.
If you plan to turn a quote into an official order and avoid this price increase, you have a few different options to do so:
- Submit your order into production (including approved Dealer quotes, approved Shop Drawings, and 50% deposit) by the end of October 2024.
- Contact your Awake Territory Manager to see if we can submit your project for consideration for protected pricing. NOTE: This is not guaranteed and most likely will only be extended for jobs that will go into production before January 2025.
- Consider changing the insulating glass from West Coast to Cardinal Direct in our quoting software. While some sizes and options are not available from Cardinal Direct, a change to Cardinal Direct will result in a meaningful price decrease from Awake (NOTE: we expect you to be able to do this in our V6 quoting system by the end of September)
