JOB DESCRIPTION

  • The CAD technician position at Awake Window & Door Co will work in the Sales Department under the supervision of the Chief Revenue Officer. The AutoCAD technician will also work hand in hand with the engineering department at Awake (especially the Vice President of Engineering & Design) and the technology department as we develop our automated shop drawing solution within our Softech quoting system. The CAD Technician’s primary responsibility will be to create both product and shop drawings for customer approvals and assistance with factory production of windows and doors. The CAD Technician will also assist the development and testing of our automated CAD drawings within our quoting software, working with Awake’s technology team to complete, maintain, and enhance this project.

COMPLEX PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS

  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement sustainable solutions.

TASKS/DETAILED WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Extreme attention to detail and focus on accuracy, consistency, and clean drawing sets for both internal and external customers.
  • Operate computer-aided drafting (CAD) equipment or conventional drafting station to produce designs, working drawings, charts, forms, and records.
  • Create elevations, section details, and renderings that illustrate the Awake product family and serve as source of record for approval of customers.
  • Work within both CAD and Solidworks software to help support engineering team by creating drawings, determining accurate sizes and dimensions.
  • Base understanding of structural, electrical, and mechanical designs as presented in architectural plans.
  • Ability to determine a method of presentation to graphically represent Awake Window & Door Co. products and how they integrate into exterior wall structures of residential homes.
  • Comfortable with handling “redline” changes and developing methods to accurately track edits submitted by customers and ensure accurate changes are made to final drawings.
  • High level of customer service required when working with sales team or external customers to work collaboratively to solve problems, capture changes, and get the customer what they need in
    their drawings.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and inspect the work of draftspersons, technicians, and technologists on all CAD related projects.
  • Help project manage the development and testing of our automated CAD drawings within our quoting software, working with Awake’s technology team to complete, maintain, and enhance
    this project.
  • Audit CAD drawings exported from Softech software to ensure accuracy

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient in AutoCAD (required)
  • Window & door CAD experience (required)
